Halton Big Forest

Since October 2023, year 9 and 10 students have been clearing the OCA grounds and planting bulbs and hedgerows around Alfie’s hut, in preparation for The Big Halton Forest.

This initiative is part of delivering a green recovery after the pandemic and tackling the climate emergency by planting trees and enhancing the green infrastructure of Runcorn and Widnes.

The goals are to plant 130,000 trees, one for every person across Halton and restore or expand greenspaces for the benefit of communities and wildlife, while inspiring a passion for trees, woods & waterfronts

OCA are the first school in Halton to take part in The Big Halton Forest.

Well done to all those who took part and a special thank you to Mrs Molyneux and Mr Davenport for coordinating the project.
