Increasingly employers, colleges and universities are looking more and more to take students who have widened their experiences and developed transferable skills. At Ormiston Chadwick Academy, we pride ourselves on having one of the most comprehensive enrichment programmes in the country. Students benefit from a multitude of different enrichment opportunities to participate in every week. This is possible because every teaching and support member of staff delivers some form of enrichment activity.
It is our mission to ensure there really is something for everyone. Budding Performing Artists benefit from instrumental lessons, choirs, dance companies and a minimum of three school productions a year. Students also enjoy opportunities to perform in local venues through the annual Shakespeare for School Festival, participate in workshops with professional artists and attend live theatre to experience everything the Performing Arts industry has to offer.
Sporting enrichment includes everything you would traditionally expect (Rugby, football, cricket, netball etc.) but we also include activities such as rock climbing, orienteering and martial arts.
We also offer a number of accredited enrichments, including our extremely popular Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze and Silver level
Our staff love the opportunity to bring learning to life by providing the students’ with experiences through many school visits, such as cultural, sporting, language, geographical and historical visits, some of which may include international travel. Many of these opportunities are funded or partially funded by the Academy, as we believe they are such a vital part of our student’s school experience and development, allowing us to make the biggest difference to the lives of all of our students by laying the foundations to encourage a successful future.
In addition we invite authors, artists, business leaders, scientists, performing artists and reputable companies to come and work with our students both in and out of curriculum time.
