We would like to welcome and congratulate all new pupils on achieving a place at Ormiston Chadwick Academy. There is a lot to look forward to at this new and exciting time, making new friends, studying new subjects and learning new skills.

We are looking forward to seeing all students develop and thrive this year and we aim to set the foundations to ensure an excellent five years at Ormiston Chadwick Academy is had by all.

Keeping you updated

Due to these very difficult circumstances, you may feel worried about whether your child will feel prepared, happy and ready to start Year 7. You may further be thinking about how you can best support your child to feel ready about their transition during ‘lockdown’ and when they return to school.

To help with any of your concerns we have set up a separate email address and social media account for all year 6 pupils. Any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us by email: [email protected] or follow us on OCA_Year6Transition

We will be using this webpage and social media to keep you updated with all the latest government guidelines as to when pupils will be returning to school.

Helping with Transition

As pupils are unable to visit the academy and complete our transition process in school, we aim to help, inform and guide pupils’ through the process to ensure they feel as ready as they can be to start school in year 7.

  • A transition booklet will be sent to each pupil to complete and bring into school on their return. The aim of the booklet is to allow pupils to find out some key things about school, as well as inform us of what they like to do and what they want to achieve during their time with us. (electronic version attached) Please feel free to develop any of the activities set out in the booklet and if you wish to collect, draw or create items that can be shown to your new classmates on your return.

A Student Transition Booklet

  • The parents/carers booklet aims to give advice and guidance to you about school and how best to support students during this challenging time.
